The formula
Share of voice for a brand is its mention count divided by the total mentions of all brands in the set, expressed as a percentage. SOV = (brand mentions / total mentions) * 100.
When to measure share of voice
- After a launch or product announcement, to see if your mentions grew relative to competitors.
- In a weekly or monthly digest, to track trend direction.
- Before a content or marketing push, to set a baseline.
- When reporting to a board or investor on category position.
How discatch helps
A catch per competitor at 6h or 24h, with a classified daily digest, gives the raw mention counts. The competitor-watch playbook automates it. This calculator is the offline version: paste the numbers in and see the chart.
